Tom and Georgia Barnett in the car they won.
Tom and Georgia Barnett own and operate 24 Burger King stores and were recently awarded "Franchisee of the Year" by Burger King, an award given for outstanding reviews and inspections. Burger King rewarded Barnett Management with a Rolex watch and the keys to a brand new car. Instead of rolling around town in their new convertible, Tom Barnett and his partners did something
more meaningful:
Barnett and the other franchise owners sold the car and watch, added more of their own money to the pot, and divided it up among their employees.
More than 100 Burger King employees received bonuses, which ranged from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.
Employees were overjoyed:
"I just couldn't believe it. I was in shock," Charity Callahan, a 15-year employee, told 3TV. "It was almost an entire month's worth of pay for me. They made us all feel appreciated."
Barnett's partners said it was an easy decision to make:
"The award needed to go to the people who got us here. It was the right thing to do," franchise co-owner Shelley Krispin told 3TV. "We're all better when we have people who work for us long term."
And that, friends, is how to truly trickle down. See the video report on Barnett and his employees:
