Reform, Medicaid, and New York State

Mon Jun 13, 2005 at 08:26:54 AM PDT

(Portions cross-posted at The Greater Rochester Weblog)

Since President Bush began beating his drum to reform Social Security, many progressive voices spoke up pointing out that Medicaid was the larger crisis and needed more immediate attention.  Being from New York State, and feeling the oppressive taxes burdening communities to cover Medicaid costs, I hoped that a groundswell was building to address the problem.

The Democrats could pick up the mantle of reform at the local, state, and federal levels by focusing in on Medicaid reform.  What happened?  And is it too late?

I don't think so.

Liberalism is Dead: SO READ THIS!

Mon Dec 20, 2004 at 12:29:27 PM PDT

After all this talk about reforming the DNC, I recall something I read at Alternet.  I found an interesting piece that dealt with the future of the Democratic party.  The title?  The aptly named "Is Liberalism Dead?"

As we speak about Dr. Dean reforming the party, and Rosenburg's ideas concerning exactly how the party needs to play a role in message creation, let us not forget the most important aspect.  The message itself.  Clearly, we have to examine what we are saying as much as how we are saying it.

Who would Osama endorse?
