So I'm back for a minute and I'm at a point now where I'm thinking: Do whatever the hell you want to do with regard to financial support and voting. I'm done trying to appeal to anyone's common sense using election history and statistics or that pesky thing known as Reality.
The same people who are saying that Hillary Clinton is more of the same, she won't change, are relying on her history while ignoring the historical fact that third parties haven't received even 1% of the vote in the last five general elections except for 2000 when Ralph Nader of the Green Party received 2.74% of the vote. Nader received 97,421 votes in Florida in 2000, and Gore lost to Bush in Florida by 537 votes.
The same people who are complaining about how cozy Hillary is with Wall Street are surely invested in the stock markets themselves. The same people who are crying "Oligarchy!" are living pretty much like every other American; they aren't doing everything they can do to stop feeding the mega-corporations that control the USA and the world.
The same people who think Bernie Sanders can get elected are convinced that Americans don't care about that "Socialist" label because "Barack Obama has been called a Socialist and a Communist all this time." Yep, and there's a big difference between being called something and stating publicly that you are that something. Especially something like "Socialist." But don't pay any attention to me; I actually am a Socialist and I've said so publicly and I've lived through the flak but apparently I don't know what I'm talking about. "Americans have evolved." Really? When did that happen? I missed the event.
I'm tired of the hypocrisy. We have 18 months to go before the general election and I'm already tired. So ... fuck it. Do what you want. If you think your life is going to be so great because you voted your "conscience" but you're stuck with full GOP control of all three branches of government (because SCOTUS) then I hope your guitar is tuned so you can sing "Kumbaya" and you have plenty of weed on hand (because you may not be enjoying legal weed, if you have it in your state, for very much longer).
But I'm done. I'll send you a postcard from Cozumel or wherever I end up.
